Commissioner issues statement following death of Surrey police officer

Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey Lisa Townsend has issued a statement following the tragic death of PC Hannah Byrne:

I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of PC Hannah Byrne which has come as an enormous shock to everyone at Surrey Police.

Hannah was clearly a dedicated and respected young officer with her policing career ahead of her and my heart goes out to her family at what must be an incredibly difficult time. My thoughts and sympathies are with them and all who knew or worked with Hannah.

Surrey Police are doing all they can to support her family and her colleagues and I know Hannah’s loss will be keenly felt across both the Force and the wider policing community.
