Despite Surrey being a safe county in comparison to neighbouring areas, not all children and young people feel safe and some are at risk of being drawn into crime through exploitation and abuse.
That’s why our Office is in the process of establishing a new dedicated service with partners, to support young people who are experiencing or at serious risk of criminal exploitation.
We have recognised that we have a gap in our ability to support these young people: In August, we opened to bids from organisations who could help us lead a new service, with up to £100,000 in support from the Commissioner’s Community Safety Fund.
We are currently in the processes of selecting a lead provider that we’ll be working with to deliver this exciting service in the coming months.
