Executive Summary:
The Police & Crime Commissioner for Surrey is responsible for commissioning services that support victims of crime, improve community safety, tackle child exploitation, and prevent reoffending. The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner uses a proportion of locally derived funding to support the delivery of local services. The Police and Crime Commissioner made available £275,000 for the Children and Young People’s Fund which is a dedicated resource to support activities and groups who work with children and young people across Surrey to stay safe.
Application to the Children & Young People Fund
Catch22 – Music to My Ears, Victims Service
To award Catch22 £41,200 to support child victims of violence through their Music to My Ears (MTME) service. MTME is a trauma informed, strength-based service that uses a creative model to engage and mentor children. It is widely researched that children who are victims of violence are at a high risk of becoming involved in crime. By supporting the child early, building confidence and trust the risk can be reduced.
Recommendation
The Commissioner supports the applications to the Community Safety Fund and awards the following;
- £41,200 to Catch22 for the Music to My Ears, Victim Service.
