32/2023 – Supplier Litigation

Author and Job Role: Kelvin Menon, Chief Financial Officer

Protective Marking:  Official

The Commissioner is considering participating in litigation against a supplier for providing defective products;

A number of Commissioners and the Forces they maintain, are seeking to carry out investigations to establish if the claims have legal merit;

On the conclusion of those investigations the Commissioners will decide in consultation with their Chief Constables whether to pursue litigation against the supplier.

The amount requested from the Commissioner for Surrey for the above purpose is £10,000.

In the best interests of the police fund in Surrey it is not proposed to publish further information about the potential claim or its merit, at this time.

It is recommended that:

  1. The Commissioner for Surrey, together with other Commissioners, carry out investigations to establish if claims have legal merit
  1. That £10,000 from Police funds be set aside for this

I approve the recommendation(s):
