For 2025/26, the Police and Crime Commissioner has made available £270,000.00 of funding to reduce reoffending in Surrey.
Application for Standard Grant Award above £5,000 – Reducing Reoffending Fund
Amber Foundation – Transforming the lives of young people – Sarah Johnson
Brief overview of service/decision – To award £41,667 to the Amber Foundation. This relates to the second year of a multi-year award with the total cost over three years of £125,000. This grant is to fund 3 bed spaces for young homeless and unemployed people from Surrey with offending backgrounds.
Reason for funding – 1) To reduce reoffending in Surrey. The work undertaken by Amber has a significant impact on re-offending. Amber support young people to maintain a healthy lifestyle and put the mechanisms in place to sustain this healthy lifestyle.
2) Strengthening safe and resilient communities – Many of the young people that Amber supports have a previous criminal conviction, and for many reasons, others are on a path where they are likely to become involved in the criminal justice system. Amber offers a temporary home, which is often the first time in a long time that young people feel safe and secure.
Recommendation
That the Commissioner supports this standard grant application to the Reducing Reoffending Fund and awards to the following;
- £41,667 to the Amber Foundation
