Executive Summary

Police & Crime Commissioners have the statutory responsibility to provide services to support victims to cope and recover.

Background

Refuges provide a vital service to enable survivors to flee abuse and keep them and their children safe from further harm. The cost of living crisis has had a substantial impact on refuges as their running costs have increased at a time where survivors needs have also increased.

Recommendation

To assist refuges in Surrey with their core running costs such as utility bills and supporting survivors with the transition to refuge, the following payments are recommended from the Victims Fund;

  • £5707 to I Choose Freedom
  • £5707 to Your Sanctuary
  • £5707 to the Salvation Army Housing Association
