Executive Summary:
For 2026/27 the Police and Crime Commissioner has made available £275,000 for the Children and Young People’s Fund which is a dedicated resource to support activities and groups who work with children and young people across Surrey to stay safe.
Application to the Children and Young People’s Fund
Leaders Unlocked – Surrey Youth Commission – Hate Crime Campaign
To award Leaders Unlocked £13,575 to develop a youth-led animation/film and accompanying workshop materials designed as a roadshow to travel across Surrey. This project will be co-created with the Surrey Youth Commission, local children and young people and key partners and will focus on hate crime and hate incidents, exploring the law, prevention and how young people can respond safely both as a victim and as a bystander. The animation/film will be adapted for social media to help raise wider awareness and extend its reach beyond the workshops. It will integrate the voices of young people, including those with lived experience of hate crime and hate incidents, ensuring these perspectives are represented authentically and meaningfully.
Recommendation
The Commissioner supports the applications to the Children and Young People Fund and awards to the following;
- £13,575 to Leaders Unlocked to develop a youth-led animation/film with the Surrey Youth Commission and Partners.
