GASP – Classroom and Wellbeing Suite

To award GASP £10,000 towards the funding of a new IT suite / classroom and a wellbeing space. GASP works with disengaged and disadvantaged young people from across the county, offering an alternative education provision for those who struggle within the mainstream setting. The funding will support replacing their current ‘Green Room’ with a fantastic new purpose-built classroom and wellness space. The new space would enable us to increase the number of young people accessing our courses, and to provide mental health support for all who attend.

Eikon – Summer Transition Project

To award Eikon £10,000 to develop and run a summer transition workshop. In 2020 they ran an effective summer programme and this funding will support the plan to expand this over the next three years, with 2022 focusing on Elmbridge. The project aims at Year 6 children (age 10-12) transitioning from primary to secondary school who are identified at risk of exclusion, low school attendance or have anxieties about school. The project commencing from March to October will be split into 4 phases.1)Youth workers will identify YP via schools, children services and other organisations. 2) They will complete 2 1:1’s with each YP to build positive/ trusted relationships and identify their needs. 3) Running for 4 weeks during summer holidays, sessions include written activities, arts, crafts, sports and games emphasising on wellbeing and building skills to overcome challenges 4) After summer, youth workers will go into the YP’s secondary schools and carry out 1:1 sessions to support YP and help put their learning into practice.
