Kevin Hurley, Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey, has extended the term of appointment of Surrey Police’s Chief Constable, Lynne Owens, until November 2017.
Lynne Owens was appointed Chief Constable of Surrey Police in February 2012. Due to Home Office restrictions in place at that time, her then-employers, Surrey Police Authority, could only offer a limited term of appointment up to November 2014. Police Regulations permit the Police and Crime Commissioner to extend that appointment by three years.
Kevin Hurley said:
“I have taken this decision to ensure the continuity of leadership that Surrey Police needs to deliver a zero-tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour and crime, provide more visible street policing and improve victim care.”
