Surrey’s Police and Crime Commissioner, David Munro, has today announced that Nick Ephgrave is his preferred candidate for the role of Chief Constable of Surrey Police.
The appointment, which is subject to a confirmation hearing by the Surrey Police and Crime Panel, follows a rigorous selection process held on 13 June.
David Munro and his appointments panel considered two applications following the assessment day, which included candidates meeting representatives from some of Surrey Police’s key stakeholders, preparing and delivering presentations and undergoing a test television interview on a difficult but realistic scenario.
Police and Crime Commissioner, David Munro, said:
“I am delighted to offer the post of Surrey Police’s Chief Constable to Mr. Nick Ephgrave. I am confident that he will do an outstanding job leading Surrey Police, and I look forward to working with him during my term of office. ”
Nick Ephgrave said:
“I am delighted to have been offered the job as Chief Constable for Surrey Police. It’s great to be able to carry on the work of the last six months with the Chief Officer team that we created. I look forward to a fruitful and productive relationship with the Police and Crime Commissioner, to drive forward his Police and Crime Plan. ”
Nick Ephgrave was appointed Temporary Chief Constable of Surrey Police in December 2015, having originally joined the organisation in July 2013 as Deputy Chief Constable. Prior to this, he was a Commander in the Metropolitan Police Service. He was awarded the Queens Policing Medal in the Birthday honours over the weekend.
The Police and Crime Panel will meet to confirm Nick Ephgrave in the role of Chief Constable of Surrey Police on 5 July 2016 at County Hall in Kingston upon Thames.
