New text message contact service for deaf, hard of hearing & speech-impaired members of the public

Kevin Hurley, Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey, has launched a new text message number for deaf, hard of hearing and speech-impaired members of the public who would like to contact his office.

The number for the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office – 07881 039131 – accepts standard SMS text messages from mobile phones. It will be monitored in normal office hours Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm.

Kevin Hurley said:

“I have promised the public that I will give them more opportunities to have their say on local policing. Launching this text number is one simple way that I can help make sure Surrey residents with hearing or speech impairments are able to contact me in a way that may better suit their needs.

“I am here to serve the public and be accessible to them. I will continue to seek out ways to improve that accessibility and I welcome comments and suggestions from the public on how I can do that.”
