Modern slavery in Surrey on agenda for latest PCC performance meeting

Tackling modern slavery and supporting older victims of crime are among topics on the agenda for Police and Crime Commissioner David Munro’s latest webcast performance meeting tomorrow.

Surrey Police’s Chief Constable Gavin Stephens will be answering questions from the PCC on a range of issues during the live broadcast from Mole Valley District Council offices in Dorking.

Other subjects due to be discussed include an update on the new Victim and Witness Care Unit and the work Surrey Police and its partners are doing to tackle both domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.

The meeting is webcast live and you can tune in and watch proceedings from 2pm here:

PCC David Munro said: “Sadly the issue of modern slavery has been back under the spotlight following the tragic events in Essex in recent weeks so I will be particularly interested to hear what is being done here in Surrey to combat this scourge.

“It is a packed agenda and I will also be asking the Chief Constable about what the Force are doing to end violence against women and girls, tackle domestic abuse and support older victims of crime.

“It is my role to hold the Chief Constable to account on behalf of residents so if you are interested in policing issues in Surrey that might affect you then do tune in if you can.”
