The Clink Charity – Plot to Plate at HMP Send – Eve Ringrose
Brief overview of service/decision – To award £9,000 to The Clink Charity’s ‘Plot to Plate’ project at HMP Send, a women’s prison in Surrey. ‘Plot to Plate’ is designed to increase provision of resettlement activities for women who do not want, or feel unable to engage in work, activity, or education. This course is designed to develop the skills, confidence, and interpersonal skills of these hard-to-reach women, with the intention they will go on to further training and achieve a formal qualification, as well as lay the groundwork for stable employment once they are resettled into Surrey society.
Reason for funding – 1) To give the skills and support for women from Surrey who may otherwise leave prison and return to the local community with no training, qualifications, or employability skills, and with severe issues with self-esteem and personal wellbeing – greatly reducing their likelihood of reoffending.
2) To protect people from harm in Surrey – for those trapped in the cycle of re-offending that causes harm to individuals, families and communities across Surrey, innovative interventions are needed to tackle these fundamental problems.
