Application for Standard Grant Award over £5000 – Community Safety Fund

Surrey Fire and Rescue – Safe Stations

To award Surrey Fire and Rescue £12,500 in order to equip fire stations across Surrey (initially Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell, Guildford, Tandridge and Waverley) as designated Safe Stations for any person affected by domestic abuse or VAWG. Staff will be trained in a multi-agency way by Domestic Abuse experts and will be equipped with the knowledge to keep someone safe for a period of time before there is another solution such as; police response (if requested), Outreach/Refuge/ or accessing the Safe Accommodation funding to provide a safe place to stay/safe transport.

Ndị uwe ojii Surrey – Elmbridge Young Persons Awards

To award Surrey Police £2,000 to hold the Elmbridge Young Persons Awards which was on hold for the last couple of years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Local schools and youth services nominate young people age 6-17 who display bravery, courage, kindness and other qualities over the last year. Nominated young persons will be invited to Imber Court in November 2022 with their families to receive their award and have their nomination read by a teacher or youth worker.

Surrey Police – Runnymede Green Scheme

To award Surrey Police £5,000 for Runnymede Safer Neighbourhoods Team to purchase an electric mountain bike. The electric bike will provide a visible and direct policing approach to the community in order to disrupt ASB, deal with offenders and reassure residents.  In addition, electric bikes will support the community police in tackling local issues such as abandoned vehicles, local pleasure spots and significant locations like parks and cemeteries, car parks and local businesses.

Spelthorne Borough Council – Junior Citizen

To award Spelthorne Borough Council £2,500 to deliver their Junior Citizen program to approximately 1000 students in Spelthorne primary schools during September 2022. Students will receive input from Surrey Fire and Rescue, Surrey Police, Spelthorne Borough Council, RNLI, Network Rail and school nurses.

Surrey Police – White Ribbon Campaign

To award Surrey Police on behalf of the Waverley, Surrey Heath and Woking Partnerships £1,428 total to purchase material to support the teams in promoting the White Ribbon Campaign. The White Ribbon Campaign works to end violence against women by engaging with men and boys to make a stand against violence and to promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women. Waverley and Surrey Heath held their White Ribbon Events in July.  

Surrey Police – Safer Streets 3

To award Surrey Police £3,510 to fund costs of installing five CCTV cameras on to Surrey County Council light poles along the Basingstoke Canal in Woking as part of Safer Streets 3 in order to reduce violence against women and girls.
