Tom qab
The former police station in Horley has been empty for a number of years and is now considered to be surplus to requirements.
The property was offered for sale on the open market in February 2023 for offers in excess of £950,000. 19 offers were received some of which were conditional on planning being received or other matters.
The force’s professional advisors Vail Williams commenced due diligence with interested parties making the highest offers which consisted of
- The offer amount in Pound Sterling
- The precise identity of the proposed purchaser and supply of appropriate I.D.
- Whether the offer is subject to any matter, other than contract and the usual searches and enquiries.
- Timescale and proof of funds
- The proposed future use of the premises.
- Details of the solicitor acting for the purchaser, should the offer be accepted.
- Any other information which should be considered by the vendor in arriving at its decision
At a meeting of the Estates Board held on 27th February 2023 Vail Williams recommended that the property be sold to Suwanee UK Limited. This was agreed subject to whether and improved offer could be sought and confirmation that best value was being achieved
Subsequent to the meeting Vail Williams contacted the prospective buyer who made an improved unconditional offer and they are recommending acceptance of this. In their view this offer does deliver best value for the PCC.
