Nick Ephgrave confirmed as new Chief Constable for Surrey Police

Surrey’s Police and Crime Panel have confirmed Nick Ephgrave in the role of Chief Constable of Surrey Police following a hearing at County Hall, Kingston upon Thames.

The Confirmation Hearing, held today 5 July, was an opportunity for the Police and Crime Panel to review the proposed appointment and to question the preferred candidate on his suitability for the role. Following this questioning, the Panel unanimously approved Mr. Ephgrave’s appointment.

 

Councillor Dorothy Ross-Tomlin, Chair of the Police and Crime Panel, said:

 

“I know Nick Ephgrave as Temporary Chief Constable, and I am delighted that his appointment was formally ratified by the Police and Crime Panel today. I look forward to working with the new Police and Crime Commissioner, new Chief Constable, and Surrey Police to make our county as safe as possible for those we represent.”

 

Police and Crime Commissioner, David Munro, said:
“One of my first priorities was to appoint Surrey Police’s new Chief Constable, and I am delighted that the Police and Crime Panel have approved Mr. Ephgrave’s appointment. I remain confident that he is the right man to lead Surrey Police into the future, and I look forward to working with him during my term of office.”

 

Nick Ephgrave was appointed Temporary Chief Constable of Surrey Police in December 2015, having originally joined the organisation in July 2013 as Deputy Chief Constable. Prior to this, he was a Commander in the Metropolitan Police Service. He was awarded the Queens Police Medal in the Birthday honours in June.

“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve as Surrey’s Chief Constable – it is a tremendous privilege and honour. I look forward to working with the Police and Crime Commissioner to deliver his Police and Crime Plan, continuing the work that I’ve been doing over the last six months, and appointing a substantive Chief Officer team to lead Surrey Police.”
